Navigating the Active@ LiveCD Shell
Once your computer has successfully booted from the Active@ LiveCD media, you will be presented with a fully functional Xfce-based desktop environment that serves as the central interface for all available tools, utilities, and applications. This chapter describes the key elements of the Active@ LiveCD desktop and explains how to navigate and interact with them effectively.
The desktop environment is organized around three main components. The Start button menu provides a structured and categorized launching point for all included applications, ranging from data recovery and security tools to internet browsers, multimedia utilities, partition managers, and system administration tools. Whether you need to recover a deleted file, erase sensitive data, burn a disc, or scan for viruses, the Start menu gives you quick and organized access to the right tool for the job.
The desktop itself offers a set of pre-configured shortcut icons for the most frequently used Active@ applications and system utilities, allowing you to launch them with a single click. The desktop appearance, icon layout, and system settings can be fully customized through the Plasma Desktop Control Panel, giving you control over display settings, network configuration, user accounts, and much more.
Finally, the taskbar and system tray provide at-a-glance access to system status information and quick launch icons for essential utilities such as the virtual keyboard, clipboard, volume control, network connections, and keyboard layout settings.
