Getting Started
Active@ LiveCD is a comprehensive bootable toolkit designed for data recovery, system backup, secure data erasure, and security management. Unlike conventional software that runs within an installed operating system, Active@ LiveCD operates independently by booting directly from a bootable storage media, giving you full and exclusive access to your system's drives without interference from the resident operating system.
This independence is what makes Active@ LiveCD particularly powerful. When a computer is booted from an external device, drive volumes can be locked for exclusive use, ensuring that no background services, applications, or operating system processes can interfere with sensitive operations such as file recovery, data wiping, or partition management. This level of access makes it possible to perform tasks that would otherwise be unreliable or impossible when the operating system is running from the same drive being worked on.
Active@ LiveCD is built on the OpenSUSE Linux operating system with a Xfce-based desktop environment, providing a familiar and intuitive graphical interface along with a wide range of built-in utilities. The toolkit includes dedicated applications for disk backup, partition recovery, file undelete, password reset, disk editing, and secure data erasure, as well as file management tools, network utilities, partition managers, and internet applications.
This chapter covers everything you need to get started with Active@ LiveCD — from system requirements and downloading the software, to creating bootable media using Active@ Boot Disk Creator and booting your computer from the prepared device.
