Files recovering

To recover files using Active@ UNDELETE:

  1. Start the Active@ UNDELETE

From the Active@ LiveCD shell, click Applications > Accessories > Active@ UNDELETE or click the Active@ UNDELETE shortcut on the desktop. The Active@ UNDELETE workspace opens with all available disks listed in a tree view under My Computer.

  2. Select the appropriate local disk under the My Computer node and click the Undelete Files toolbar button, or double-click the disk to open it.
  3. Select the Detect Files by Their Signatures checkbox.
  4. Click the Select All button to include all file signatures, or manually select the specific file types you want to detect and recover.
  5. Click Scan and wait while the local disk is being scanned.
  6. Inspect the found files and folders using the following options:
    • Browse the folder tree to locate your files and folders.
    • Filter the results by file type using the Filter by toolbar text box.
    • Click on a found item to preview its contents.
  7. Detect files by their signatures

If the volume is severely corrupted, the file tree may also be corrupted and not displayed correctly. In this case, expand the Files Detected by Signatures tree and look for your files by file type. Note that some file attributes — such as creation time and original file name — may not be recoverable. However, the original file content can still be recovered if it has not been overwritten.

  8. Place the cursor on the file or folder you want to recover and click the Recover button.
  9. The Recovery Options dialog box opens. Do the following:
    • In the Recover files to field, verify the recovery path. Make sure it is not the same disk you are recovering data from.
    • To change the file naming approach, conflict resolution mode, or other advanced options, click the More Recovery Options button and adjust the settings accordingly.
    • Click Recover.
Note:

A device scan or search may take a long time. To stop a scan or search at any time, click Stop.

The file or folder is recovered to the specified location.
